Jumping for joy, sun, flowers and selfies

Thanks to everyone who tagged us in #YourRuns this week! We love seeing and sharing running photo’s of all kinds from breathtaking trail views to breathless track sprints, from lacing up your running shoes to hanging up your running medals and all the stories behind them. So if you’ve got a running photo you’d like us to share, use the #yourruns hashtag on Twitter or Instagram or tag us @Womensrunninguk. Our absolute favourite running pictures will end up in the mag – so you never know who you might inspire. Happy running everyone!

Our adventures take us to some of the most beautiful places in the Peak District! Not only do I get an extremely satisfying feeling from running here, but also from the opportunities it throws at me like being able to dangle my feet over water or from a fallen tree or off the edge of some rocks! Whether I am on my own or with Carly, my running buddy, I always try to make time to put a little perspective on the things that are happening all around me in my life. The scenery and tranquility that is gifted to me on every run really helps me to switch off and release my mind. We would love to know where you have been running today? #peakdistrict #yourruns #mensrunning #mumswhorun #runningwithasmile #runningbuddy #runningwithfriends #runnergirl #runnerboy #saturday #longrun #encouragement #runningrevolution #womensrunning #runner

Real talk. Today's last long run of marathon training was an absolute mess. 💩 We aimed for 20 miles, Greenwich to Vauxhall and back. Great route along the Thames Path, beautiful weather. 💪🏻 But by this point, 10 miles in, I was exhausted. By 12 miles, the intense pain in my legs and hips was too much and I had to mostly walk (hobble) to 19 miles before I gave up. 🙅🏼 I was so upset. My self-esteem was shot. But my body knows its limits and boy, I've put it through SO MUCH for the last three months. I'm surprised it complied for this long. On reflection, the toddler strop it had today was well deserved. 🤷🏼‍♀️ BUT, I had my wobbly lip and now I know everything will be fine. It's taper time now. HALLELUJAH. Three weeks of chill runs and RESTING my battered body before The Big Day. I've just got to trust that the tapering does its job… 😬 *** #running #runner #runnergirl #marathon #londonmarathon #vlm2017 #marathontraining #instarun #runnersofinstagram #runchat #ukrunchat #thisgirlcan #thisgirlcanrun #womensrunninguk #headstogether #teamheadstogether #reasontorun

It was my turn to choose where to run this week so I took Paddy on a favourite road route from my back door. We try and make sure we squeeze one good run a week in together, which sometimes involves a bit of diary crunching, but usually works out! We actually managed a bonus blast out early in the week which was cool. We both run on our own and with other people. Paddy is a Personal Trainer so invests in people that way, and I go with friends who don't mind running with a chatterbox! Being a Mum of four, and making time to run is never easy with all the juggling, but it really is worth the effort. Who is your running buddy? We would love to know what you are all up to today! #runningwithfriends #runningbuddy #runnergirl #runnerboy #runner #saturday #longrun #motivation #encouragement #personaltrainer #mumswhorun #yourruns #RunningMadeEasy #eleyfitness #peakdistrict #runningrevolution #thisgirlcan

After getting teeth chatteringly cold watching my daughter's hockey match yesterday (I was in my running kit & really should have brought a coat like all the other mums), I didn't want to go running. – – – – — – – – – – – – – – – – After a hot coffee and little bit of chocolate brownie, I eventually talked myself into it. – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – 2 miles in & I'd just about warmed up. – – – – – – – – – – 5 miles in and I felt great. – – – – – – – – – Finally back to my car after 7 miles and was on a high 😀 Sooo glad I went out. #happydays . . . . . #richmondpark #happyrunner #nbleadville #newbalance #ultramarathontraining #marathontraining #halfmarathontraining #running #runnersworld #runnersofinstagram #getoutside #getoutsideandplay #trailrunning #trailshoes #womensrunningcommunity #runspiration #runtastic #Tokyomarathon2017 #RaceToTheStones2017 #RTTS #runtheworld #yourruns #surrey

I really wanted to do a Hump day post with a camel photo but London Zoo doesn't let you see them for free from the road outside 🙄 A mile to the station in 8:35 then five and a bit more in London before a conference all day. I'll be on my ass (don't let you see those for free either) all day and eating conference food and cake but I don't feel so bad now. #run #runner #running #womensrunningcommunity #instarunners #runnersofinstagram #runnersonig #thisgirlcan #thisgirlruns #runninggirl #thisgirlcanrun #believe #womensrunninguk #runlikeagirl #runaroundeurope #irunthereforeiam #runspiration #marathon #thisgirlcanrunning #10km #marathontraining #ultramarathon #ultrarunning #ultramarathontraining #ultrachallenge #100km #50km #miltonkeynesmarathon #southcoastchallenge

Throwback Wednesday! The 'ups and downs' in terms of running and weight loss/gain. My marathon times have been between 3:52-5 hours. My weight has gone from 210-137lb (currently 10lb over my lowest)! Too much focusing on both has taken me to some dark places in my mind so I'm determined to 'break free' now. Celebrating that I can still run pain free now & again, eat a healthy vegan diet (are crisps & Shiraz wine healthy?!). I will always be 'up and down' in terms of my running & weight and, you know, that's ok I realise now 😊 This body has carried 2 amazing kids, survived 70lb of yo-yo dieting, some MHealth & eating 'issues' & still churned out 52 marathons/ultras. It keeps trying every time I ask it to – it's done pretty well for nearly half a century 😄👍🏼 #thisgirlcan #womensrunningcommunity #womensrunning #womensrunninguk #plantpowered #poweredbyplants #vegan #veganrunner #run #running #runner #girlpower #runhappy #smile #runningmom #marathon #marathontraining #ultrarunning #weightwatchers #weightlosstransformation #anxiety #loverunning #girlswhorun #selfesteem #positivity #runforfun #happyrunner

I've just run 20 miles. Not sure why 🤔😬 Most people use a car for those distances. Nevertheless, I've gone and done it. I was very nervous yesterday and didn't think I had it in me. 3PBs smashed, fasted 5k, fastest 10k, fastest half. Most importantly I can still walk 🙈😂 @jodiedigbyfitness I could not do this without you! You have inspired me to do crazy stuff and I will forever love you for it ❤️️London Marathon next! #londonmarathontraining2017 #runnersofinstagram #runnergirl #womensrunningcommunity #vlm2017 #runlikeagirl #whyirunldn #winsdor20 #20miles✅ #marathonprep #runningbuddy #besttrainerever #friends #irunthisbody #garminforerunner235 #breathe #tapertime #runnershigh #girlswhorun #womensrunninguk #loverunning

Some runs just don't go according to plan, this run was meant to be a 8.30min mile run but it didn't turn out that way. Today I was faced with hills, what felt like hundreds of gates I had to open and a tight calf muscle which I had to stop and stretch. These are the sorts of runs that test you mentally as well as physically BUT I did it and that's the main thing. ………….……………………………………… #extremerunnerslife #ilovetorun #runnerofinstagram #igrunner #runitfast #worlderunner #womansrunningcommunity #run #runner #justkeeprunning #runlikeagirl #instarunner #instarun #inspiration #runspiration #whatarunnerlookslike #repost #runforlife #inspiration #runningcommunity #irunthisbody #runalways #runitfast #nevergiveup #womenrunning #runnerscommunity #yourruns #inspiringwomenrunners #runthroughuk #thisgirlcan #mentalstrength

To my mummy running friends that are just starting out, today after school drop off I ran one of my regular 10k routes or as Strava would say 9.9k (so bloody annoying when your watch says 10!) While I was running I thought to myself, this time last year I would have classed this as a long run, probably taken the odd walk break and been utterly exhausted! I got home and looked at strava and found out it wasn't even until a month later that I started to include 10k runs. I keep hearing friends say, they aren't going far or fast compared to other people but that's the beauty of running we can measure how far we have come by our own progress, not measured against others. Keep going, you are all doing great! We all start somewhere and you are amazing for deciding to start. #runners #runmummyrun
