Who makes up your favourite squad of runners? Your family? Your friends? Your running group? Your work buddies? Get them all together, and run a marathon as a team at The Family Marathon in June; a brand new event and exciting concept!

With the brand new The Family Marathon on Saturday 29 June, you can choose anyone you cherish as family to be in your team! First and foremost it’s going to be a cracking day out in the gorgeous location of Victoria Park in London. The event will have an epic pop-up village rammed with motivating stalls, fun activities and luscious food, plus plenty to keep the kids entertained if they’re a little too young to trot round the course.

Secondly, it’s a chance to run a marathon – collaboratively. This is such a fun idea: you’ll have 26.2 miles under your belt, but without all the excessive training that it entails, because within your little tribe, you can run it in relay, taking turns to run laps round the park, each of you taking over when the others are cream crackered. Or you can even all run at the same time…

And yes, you can bring your kids: this is a chance to get fit together, with an achievable goal in mind. But if your teenagers are being less than enthusiastic about running a mile or two, you can choose your own family. Pick a team from your friends, your extended family, your work colleagues, or even your running group, and then decide between you how many miles you each want to run. Run just a mile, or run the full monty – the choice is totally up to you, it’s time to bring your ‘running family’ together!

The Family Marathon is supporting Hope and Homes for Children, an international charity that works to replace orphanages around the world with loving families for children. Every mile you run will raise vital awareness and funds for this inspiring charity.
